This Week in the
We started our session by reviewing last weeks learning and then we had a story and some fruit to prepare us for the day ahead. This week we focused on building homes for the lovely creatures of the wood, using the Gruffalo story for some inspiration.
Then we headed into the woods and played some group games to encourage a feeling of community and to develop our social skills. We loved playing the “Gorilla Bogey” game.
Next we found lots of animals living in the woods, both naturally and maybe, not so naturally! We decided to help them and build them some homes. Some of us really enjoyed watching them move around and identifying them. This helps to develop our feelings of empathy towards other creatures.
We then put up a shelter together and had our lunch. This is a special time for us in the woods and is a big social event!!
After lunch we explored how we could make swings. We tied lots of knots and made rope bridges and different kinds of swings. We then sat down to review our day, talking about our feelings and things we enjoyed.
